This article introduces AutoCAD basics. It is intended for users with some experience with AutoCAD, but with no AutoCAD training or experience, we begin with what you need to know to use AutoCAD to create a basic drawing. After learning AutoCAD basics, we show you how to use AutoCAD for drafting in the most efficient way possible. We also show you some techniques to leverage the unique features of AutoCAD to improve your productivity and use the program more efficiently. AutoCAD Basics Before getting started with AutoCAD, you’ll need to know how to use the basic commands. After you complete this section, we’ll show you how to use AutoCAD efficiently. Drawing Commands in AutoCAD To start a drawing, you need to have the following drawing commands. For the sake of simplicity, we’ll call these commands “commands”.
